Remembering Brixton’s Contemporary Black History: Memorialising people, places and events

06 June 2023

17:00 -20:00

Join locals with lived experiences on our journey whilst we collect, catalogue and present Brixton’s unique identity through the lens of our Black institutions and architectural heritage. We will be remembering the places, spaces, buildings, businesses, organisations and people that formed the Brixton we know and love - especially from in its heyday of the 70s, 80s & 90s.

We welcome everyone and anyone who has lived in Brixton, visited Brixton or would like to know more about Brixton’s rich heritage. Help us connect with the past through your recollections, reminiscing and shared stories.

At this event attendees will:
- Get to understand and explore the importance of our heritage in leaving a legacy
- Be introduced to the wider project and learn how people can get involved
- Have a chance to engage with the team, and make connections with others that have history in Brixton

This event will be run twice:
- Sunday 4th @ 3-6:30pm
- Tuesday 6th @ 5-8pm

We’ll also be letting you know about our upcoming Memory Cafe-style events where people can come along, enjoy good food and music plus share their experiences of Brixton.

Help us to connect with others who could contribute; share widely with others who may be interested.
