People and buildings of Grahame Park

24 June 2023

14:00 -15:15

This animated walking tour will explore the Grahame Park estate in Colindale, located on the site of the Hendon Aerodrome and named after pioneering aviator, Claude Grahame-White.

Grahame Park was built in the early 1970s in the “Brick Brutalist” style, featuring brick terraced houses and low-rise flats. The estate has been through various phases of regeneration over the years.

This guided walk will feature local residents' memories of the area. It will highlight the artwork of sculptor Brian Yale which are a feature of the estate. It will also explore the legacy of Hendon aerodrome on the built heritage of Grahame Park. This tour is organised by Colindale Communities Trust in partnership with the Museum of Domestic Design & Architecture, the Past, Present and Future project with NHG and Dr Magali Peyrefitte.
