There is such a range of events this year so I’ve let myself be guided by the Festival theme of memory. To get a taste of LFA2017, first up will be a visit to the Lyric, Hammersmith on June 3 as this venue was my first paid job in Theatre. I’m looking forward to revisiting other memories at the National Theatre’s Archive (open on Saturday 10th and 17th) as well as hearing about visitors’ recollections on the tours I’ll be leading, also on 10th and 17th June.
On screen, the incomparable Jonathan Meades who has been invading the small screen since the late 1980’s, promises to be a treat. ‘Britain’s greatest tv essayist’ says the bfi so the will be much to relish here.
Also looking forward to savouring the Dulwich Pavilion and the work of If Do especially on the evening of June 16th which includes screening of ‘The Changing Face of Camberwell’ going back 50 odd years; while at 80 Camberwell Road there promises to be ‘two centuries of memory’ – that’s a lot to fit into a Georgian terrace house…
…after which the only fitting finale is surely to visit the sensual Temple of the Tongue to look back at a decade of Bompas and Parr.
