04 June 2023

A 9.5km (6 miles) walk from Edgware Station to Finchley Church End Library. Including disused railway lines and footpaths from Edgware Station to Finchley Church End Library along the route of what was previously the Northern Heights Railway of the Great Northern Railway Company.

The walk stops at various points to look at some of the architectural delights and curiosities on the route. Included is Edgware's Railway Hotel, Mill Hill Barracks and the magnificent Dollis Viaduct, which carries the tube 60 feet above the Dollis Brook. The walk finishes with lunch at Finchley Church End Library, one of Barnet's new libraries.

The walk is led by Hugh Petrie, Heritage Development Officer for London Borough of Barnet, who will be telling the history of the railway, and surrounding architecture.

The walk, including lunch, will finish approximately at 2.30pm including breaks and sensible footwear is recommended.
