Join architect Nuno Pais and illustrator Lis Watkins to walk from Farringdon Station to Liverpool Street Station, sketching a variety of buildings along the way, all of which share one thing in common - they are all multi-unit residential urban blocks. The buildings reflect the changing homes in the area from the 1930s to the present day. We will stop off at four points along the route to make sketches of notable buildings: the Art Deco block “Florin Court” in Charterhouse Square; the Founders’ Hall in Cloth Fair, a mixed-use Post-modern scheme incorporating apartments, offices and civic functions; the Modernist Barbican Estate; and the recently built One Crown Place in Sun Street, an example of a contemporary Neo-Liberalist mixed-use development, with flats, a hotel and amenity spaces.
