Wilcox Road has a rich history as a vibrant local high street, and was once home to a thriving and bustling market serving the local community.
NOOMA Studio have been leading this High Street regeneration project exploring a co-designed identity to revive this historic high street through distinctive branding that gives a nod to the local heritage and the lost tradition of craft and interactivity on British high streets.
Working with businesses, a number of whom have been on Wilcox Road for several decades, as well as local residents and primary school children, we have developed an identity toolkit to inform upcoming murals and signage on the road.
We invite you to join us for some creative pattern making through block printing using the patterns we have developed as part of the identity toolkit, to collectively create a narrative for two new murals and seven signage banners on Wilcox Road.
In this drop in workshop you will be able to print your own Wilcox Road canvas shopping bag to take away, becoming part of a lasting legacy of a limited series of bespoke shopping bags unique to Wilcox Road.
South Lambeth is also home to Little Portugal, a large community of Portuguese speakers from Portugal and around the world. This event is held as part of the Portugal Day Market run by South Lambeth Library, and while you are here you will be able to enjoy the range of other activities, food and music!
