Common Container

09 June - 11 June

Opening times are as follows: Friday 9th, 17:30 – 21:00 / Saturday 10th, 14:30 – 18:00 / Sunday 11th, 11:00 – 16:00

London commons, a haven within the city, an area for growth and enjoyment of all things big and small.

For the London Festival of Architecture 2023 we intend to celebrate the small. Using a headset and VR we intend to take you deeper into your common than ever before. Imagine yourself standing in the middle of your common, a full 360 of the surrounding architecture and built city encircling you but only a moment later you are smaller than an ant, amongst the grasses and the other users of our commons that we all too often overlook.

Using a shipping container as the base for the experience the virtual world will be mapped 1:1 allowing visitors to wander through our commons as if we were the smallest insect. How big does the city look now, how differently will you look at our commons, how much life do they protect and nurture....
