Black Culture Market

03 June - 04 June

11:00 -17:00

The Black Culture Market event during this year’s LFA builds on the ‘incommon’ theme looking at Brixton’s market culture and history from past to present.

From 1870 when Brixton market was first established to now we can see how market culture has shaped the architecture and public spaces in Brixton. Markets bring value to a community as places where social interaction helps build networks based on shared interests and basic needs.

Today, the Black Cultural Market celebrates black culture and commerce in the local community, offering entrepreneurs of all ages of African and Caribbean descent visibility for them to flourish and make cultural products more accessible.

Come visit the Black Cultural Market, you’ll learn more about how markets have shaped the area, be able to speak to local business owners and discover their unique products and wares.
