The project will take people on a guided journey through 4 sites in Edgware including the charity’s award-winning refurbished Day’s site and award-winning regenerated Atkinsons’ site. A plenary session with refreshments will allow representatives of the development teams including architects and trustees (also local councillors) to explore the underlying concepts and practical application as well as for beneficiaries of the charity to tell their own stories.
Walking to the plenary session will take people from the small scale modern and historic almshouses through a large (£235 million) regeneration scheme which will help them compare and contrast approaches and outcomes. It will highlight the benefits of designing small cluster developments run by local trustees within a charity framework, providing small community sanctuary for those in need. The walk is a total of one mile with stops and refreshments and should last no more than two hours.
