A celebration of London Life

NEWS |

The London Festival of Architecture is a celebration of urban life and built environment design – that the LFA now runs the whole month of June is testament to the energy of our built environment industries and the appetite to discover London’s architectural output, whether built design, explorative sketches or investigative research.

The LFA performs several core functions advocated in the Farrell review – promoting our built environment experts globally and providing a platform for our sustainable city making skills. The LFA builds a solid bridge between the built environment professions and the general public, helping society understand urban design issues and solutions that affect their everyday through interesting and fun exhibitions, Open Studios and debates.

This year’s theme ‘memory’ will be an exciting look at the shared history of this great city – a reminder of the importance of contextual design where ‘place’ is the client.  It will highlight the joy of subtle architectural motifs that bring to life a building or area’s history – our Hatton Street studios are crowned with spitfire sculptures, evocative of the building’s past as a factory building parts for spitfires and other planes.

Ultimately the LFA puts London and the UK on the world stage, forges connections between the professions and the public and encourages a celebration of the city’s rich cultural heritage – we can’t wait!
